Why You Might Need Specialist Towing For Your Vehicle

Posted on

When it comes to towing, most people would prefer not to think of this possibility. After all, you don't plan to have a breakdown or a crash when driving, and yet it happens to everyone at some point and it is good to be prepared. If you don't already have a towing company in mind that you would use if you had a problem, then you need to change that and find a towing company that you can put down in your contacts should the worst happen. However, not all towing companies are the same, and it is important that you find one that can meet your more specialist needs if you have them.

Large Vehicle Towing

If you have a truck, large van, semi-trailer, or any kind of larger vehicle, then most average towing companies are going to struggle to be able to bring you in. These towing companies often have weight limits, as well as size limits, and larger vehicles routinely go over these parameters. The last thing you want is for a towing company you called out not to be able to move your vehicle because then you will have to pay them and a new towing company that will be able to do the job. Make sure you have the number for a large vehicle towing contractor if you do indeed have a large vehicle.

Odd Shape

Some vehicles are not that big, but they have a weird shape that makes it very hard for your average towing company to do anything about them. This is often the case with construction vehicles, such as dozers to skid steers. Generally, if you don't have a standard kind of car that your average manufacturer would make, such as a sedan, hatchback, SUV, or anything similar, you will need a specialist towing company. Always make sure to tell the towing company what vehicle you have and ask whether they have the equipment to move it.

Heavy Load

Sometimes it is not just about the size or length of the vehicle, but the weight of it. There are heavy-duty construction and transportation vehicles out there that might not look any heavier than your average truck but can weigh multiple times what you would expect. When these vehicles break down, you need heavy-duty towing equipment that is top-of-the-line and that has a huge capacity for weight. The last thing you want is for your very heavy vehicles to be stuck out on the road for multiple hours causing mayhem and delays.
